John P. Murphy, Senior Consultant, FMI Coproration 

As a senior consultant with FMI, John specializes in designing and implementing solutions to complex problems through systematically developing a comprehensive understanding of the environment, applying multidisciplinary models to design solutions, and integrating assessment analytics to allocate and prioritize assets for optimal strategic impact. The cornerstone of his success in implementing solutions is through building and leading high-performing teams and collaborative communities of interest.


John’s passion is transforming organizations and the individuals within to realize their full potential. With this personal charge, John started his own management consulting business focused on unlocking the power of relationships to transform businesses. Most recently, he worked as a consultant to a government client where he developed and applied an innovative strategic framework that changes the paradigm for approaching strategy and campaign design in support of national security and other complex, strategic efforts.


John developed and honed his skills in strategy and execution while serving in the US Army for 20 years in jobs varying from infantry platoon leader to chief strategist. He also served three years as an instructor at the U.S. Military Academy where he taught leadership, management, marketing and business strategy. John graduated from the U.S. Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. He has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame. John is also a U.S. Army-trained strategist, having graduated from the Basic Strategic Art Program at the U.S. Army War College, the Defense Strategy Course and the U.S. Special Operations Command Systemic Operational Design Course





Corey Zussman, AIA, NCARB, ALA, REWC, RWC, RRO, CDT, CQM, LEED® AP BD+C, Director of Quality Management, Pepper Construction


Corey is a registered Architect in several states, practicing for over 28 years, specializing in building envelope, restoration, preservation, life safety, & interior finishes. Practicing architecture for the first 15 years before moving to a restoration/preservation mid-sized construction company in Chicago where he was Vice President in charge of developing and implementing their Quality Program. Corey is currently the Director of Quality Assurance for a large construction company in Chicago promoting the Quality Program for over six years. Corey works on 50-75 projects a year, including constructability reviews, conducting pre-installation meetings, conducting comprehensive envelope meetings, construction observation, and providing education throughout the industry.


With the number of projects that Mr. Zussman is able to review and evaluate each year, examples demonstrating why certain design or construction conditions favor one type of product or system over another is his specialty and gives him the ability to constantly update and understand the limitations of construction for all types of building construction and uses.   Mr. Zussman has produced over 150 “lessons learned” papers about building envelope and life safety concerns to be proactive during design review, pre-construction, and construction.  His detailed pre-construction checklists for most trades are a proactive tool that provides descriptive photos of issues and correct installation examples. Mr. Zussman has extensive quality metrics for more than 1,000 buildings and $2 billion worth of work, and a Quality App for mobile phones and tablets which houses the lessons learned papers to stay ahead or verify construction in the field. 


Randy Barber, PE, CVS, Speaker, Coach & Facilitator, Proficio Partners

Randy is a coach, facilitator, and speaker. He is the founder/owner of Proficio Partners, LLC. He  is dedicated to helping highly motivated individuals, and organizations think differently to optimize profitability through productivity.


Randy worked in the architecture/engineering/ construction industry for 35 years. During that time, he led teams and managed personnel for more than 25 years. Randy is certified in the Frame of Mind © Coaching methodology, and helps his clients shift their thinking in order to yield extraordinary results through personal transformation.


We all have the capacity to be great, yet we typically keep ourselves from living it. The good news is that we can all get learn to get out of our own way and live our dreams.

Robert Schutz, Jr., VP of Marketing, Producer, DSP Insurance Services

Bob Schutz, Jr. is the VP of Marketing and Sales for DSP Insurance Services, where he helps contractors navigate the complexities of risk management and insurance.  After graduating from University of Denver, Bob spent close to a decade insuring venture capital firms and other financial institutions in San Francisco, Bob moved back to Chicago is 2007 to apply his risk management skills to Midwest Industry, with a focus on both General and Trade Construction. 

The primary concentration of Bob’s efforts has been on contract law and the ramifications contracts have on insurance situations.  Bob works with both Trade and General Contractors to make sure contracts are fair to all parties and tries to eliminate breach of contract situations based on insurance requirements.


The focus of Bob’s presentation will be a case study of what can go wrong in contracts at the time of loss.  We will spend time evaluating a contract and applying situations where things can go sideways.  


Todd D. Graham, Managing Director, Cantor Fitzgerald & Co.


Todd Graham is a Managing Director with Cantor Fitzgerald and specializes in infrastructure finance assignments. Todd has over 20 years of experience as an investment banker with an expertise in debt and equity capital markets, deal generation,  transaction structuring, valuation, securitization,  structured and real estate finance.  

Prior to joining Cantor, he was a Managing Director with MHT Partners, a middle market investment bank based in Dallas where he led the firm’s energy, industrial and infrastructure investment banking practice and opened their Houston office.

Prior to MHT Partners, he was a co-founder and principal of First/Third Capital Partners, LLC, a private equity investment firm based in Houston, Texas. Todd previously worked in corporate finance at Morgan Keegan and began his career at Stifel Nicolaus and Merrill Lynch.

Todd, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, is a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, with both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration Degree.
