Today, the AIC is excited to share with you some great news about the future of the administration of the Certified Professional Constructor (CPC) Examination. Beginning with the Spring 2016 examination, the CPC exam will transition to a Computer Based Exam. This change will result in making the CPC exam more accessible and user friendly as we continue to grow the Constructor Certification program.

What's New?

  • The CPC examination will be fully Computer Based.
  • The examination has been shortened to 175 questions over 4 hours.
  • No longer offered at our normal University examination sites.
  • Now available at a network of hundreds of PSI Testing Centers across the country - Making the exam much more accessible.
  • Flexible Examination Dates - Once approved to take the exam, Candidates will select a date within a two week testing window. For the Spring 2016 examination the test window is April 2-16.
  • Preliminary results are available before leaving the Testing Center.
  • Examination application rates will increase slightly to cover the new costs of access to new
  • Testing Centers and immediate scoring. Rates will still be below testing industry averages.

What has not changed? The examination reliability, validity, and fairness will continue to meet the highest of industry standards as assured by the Commission's Examination Agency. Based on professional analysis by our testing partners we determined that with these changes the exam would still meet the highest testing standards. These changes would not have been made otherwise.

I hope you will greet these changes with the same excitement and positive outlook as AIC, fellow CPC's, and the future CPC candidates whom we have already shared this positive development. Furthermore, I encourage you to share this news with your professional network and encourage those that are not yet CPC certified to seek certification.
