Andrew Wasiniak, CPC, Elected to AIC College of Fellows

Alexandria, VA - Joining the AIC College of Fellows in 2012 will be long time American Institute of Constructors member and Certified Professional Constructor Andy Wasiniak of Walbridge. Wasiniak joined AIC in 1994 and has held various leadership positions within both AIC and its Constructor Certification Commission. Most recently, he served as the AIC’s President from 2011 to 2012. In 1999 Wasiniak become the 118th person to earn the Certified Professional Constructor (CPC) certification.

Wasiniak is Assistant Vice President of Business Development for Walbridge’s Heavy-Civil Construction Group. He is responsible for the group’s business development which reaches the Federal, Water & Waste Water, Aviation, and Public Infrastructure sectors.

Wasiniak holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Cleveland State University. He began his career in construction working for his father, a concrete and masonry specialty contractor in Ohio, at an early age where he learned those trades. Upon graduation he began his professional career in Cleveland working for Turner Construction Company for nearly a decade and he has been with Walbridge for 12 years.

He has experience in field operations, project controls, estimating, procurement, project management and business development. Signature projects that Wasiniak has contributed to include Key Tower, Quicken Loans Arena, Cuyahoga County Jail II, and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame - all in Ohio; The Greenfield Village Restoration Project, Chrysler MOPAR Distribution Center and General Motors Vehicle Engineering Center and Global Engineering parking structures in Michigan; Bel Mare at Riviera Dunes, Positano on the Gulf, and EnviroFocus Technologies – all in Florida; and Project One at Masdar City in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Fellowship is the highest honor which may be conferred on a member of the Institute. It is limited to those persons who have advanced in their careers to a position of eminence by demonstrating a consistent pattern of professional performance and whose inclusion in the College of Fellows will bring added distinction to that body.

To be eligible for nomination, the candidate must be a constructor practitioner, educator, researcher, or retired from any of the above; have given distinguished service to the Institute, be a current Constructor member for at least ten years, and must be at least 40 years of age. Nominations are open every January (and closed in February for the year) and successful candidates must be nominated and seconded by a Fellow or Constructor level member, have fulfilled all of the requirements listed above, and be voted upon favorably by three quarters of the current members of the College of Fellows in good standing.
