Forty-Eight Earn AIC’s CPC Credential

Alexandria, VA – (May 10, 2012) Forty-Eight construction industry professionals recently earned their Certified Professional Constructor (CPC) credential from the American Institute of Constructor’s Constructor Certification Commission (AIC & CCC). These 48 individuals join the more than 800 individuals who have earned the CPC designation since CCC began awarding it in 1996.

The spring 2012 class successfully completed the CPC Examination, which was administered on March 31, 2012 at over 70 locations nationwide. Before sitting for the examination, candidates must complete an application which includes a vetting process performed by current CPCs to ensure the highest standards of requirements are met.

The examination itself tests problem solving abilities that require application of knowledge, analysis, and synthesis at the level of an experienced constructor. Passing the CPC exam distinguishes an individual as a Professional Constructor -- someone who possesses the skills and knowledge acquired by education and experience to manage the execution of all or a substantial portion of a construction project. A Professional Constructor is an individual committed to serve the construction industry in a professional and ethical manner and engage in a continued development of skills and education to meet increasing industry challenges and changes.

”Congratulations to this new class of CPCs; they have all demonstrated a clear understanding of what it means to be a Professional Constructor.” Said David Fleming, CPC, DBIA, Chair of the AIC Constructor Certification Commission. “I welcome this new class as they represent not only the CPC, but also the profession as a whole.”

The next CPC examination is November 3, 2012. The application deadline is September 15, 2012. For more information about the CPC Exam, please contact Joseph Sapp at 703-683-4999 X224 or

About the AIC – Constructor Certification Commission
AIC is the organization that seeks to give Constructors the professional status they deserve. The Institute is the constructor's counterpart of professional organizations found in architecture, engineering, law and other fields. As such, the Institute serves as the national qualifying body of the professional constructor. AIC membership identifies the individual as a true professional.

The AIC Constructor Certification Commission (more commonly referred to as the Commission) is a separate board that works independently of the AIC's normal committee and leadership structure. The Commission operates semi‐autonomously so that it can make impartial decisions about certifications, exams and standards even when the AIC takes a specific stance on an issue.
