American Institute of Constructors Announces Awards
May 08, 2012 – Alexandria, VA – The American Institute of Constructors honored several individuals at the recent AIC Annual Forum, which was held April 18-21 in Tampa, FL. The AIC Awards Luncheon was held on Friday, April 20th, with long-time AIC Member and CPC, Jack Blitch, VP of Walt Disney Imagineering as the keynote speaker.
Receiving the J. Walter Nashert Sr. Constructor Award was Jack Blitch, CPC. Jack has been an AIC Member since 1976 and earned CPC #6 in 1996. This award is given to those who have gained high visibility in the construction industry while establishing a reputation of integrity and fair dealing. The Jack Kinnaman AIC Leadership Award was awarded to Rick Lawrence, CPC, President of Siciliano, Inc. Rick has been an AIC Member and CPC since 2000 and currently chairs the Examination Committee of the AIC Constructor Certification Commission. The Jack Kinnaman Leadership Award is given to a company leader who, by voice or action, have encouraged colleagues and employees to join and support the AIC and who have taken an active leadership role in the organization.
The last individual award of the day, the W.A. Klinger Construction Education Award, was conferred upon Steve Byrne, CPC. Steve has been an AIC Member since 1998 and CPC since 2005. He is a member of the AIC College of Fellows, and has held various leadership roles within the AIC, including AIC President. He currently chairs the Professional Standards Committee and is Treasurer of the AIC Constructor Certification Commission. The W.A. Klinger Construction Education Award is for educators/academicians who have distinguished themselves in teaching, research, and/or service in the advancement of the construction profession, the nominees’ institution of learning, the construction industry and their country.
In addition, the AIC Constructor Certification Commission announced the winner of the Company Award of Excellence, MW Golden Constructors. On hand to accept the award was Mike Golden, CPC, Principal of MW Golden Constructors. The Company Award of Excellence was established to bring positive recognition to companies who are actively promoting constructor certification. These companies help offset costs associated with becoming certified, they support their employees who volunteer their time to promote certification, and use certification as criteria for recruitment and retention of employees.
