Navigating code requirements can be a challenge for many design professionals and code officials, especially when it comes to designing the egress system. This information will help the person(s) responsible for designing the life safety features of buildings and those responsible for review of such designs gain a fundamental understanding of the essential concepts and the mistakes that are commonly made.

Learning Objectives

- You will be able to define common paths of travel and identify how it is measured.

- You will be able to identify at least three common design mistakes.

- You will be able to discuss why life safety is more than just providing egress.

- You will be able to explain basic design concepts for the means of egress.
