About Certification

About the AIC Constructor Certification Commission

The American Institute of Constructors' Constructor Certification Commission provides testing and certification for individuals in the construction industry.  Constructor Certification aims to up the level of professionalism and ethics within the construction industry.  With two levels of certification anyone in the industry can certify their abilities, whether a Construction Management university student or a industry veteran looking to add a new professional designation after their name.

The Commission operates semi-autonomously so that it can make impartial decisions about certifications, exams and standards even when the AIC takes a specific stance on an issue.  The AIC Constructor Certification Commission (more commonly referred to as the Commission) is a separate board that works independently of the AIC's normal committee and leadership structure.

About Certification

The Certified Professional Constructor process gives your formal recognition of the education and experience that defines you as a Professional. The Commission knows you are committed to serving the construction industry in a professional and ethical manner, and can help you develop and prove your skills to meet increasing challenges in the industry.  Constructor Certification exams are given nationwide twice per year, every April and November.

The Professional Constructor is an individual who commits to serve the construction industry in a professional and ethical manner and engages in the continued development of his/her skills and education to meet increasing industry challenges and changes.

Certified Constructors will be permitted to use the AC or CPC acronym after their names. Use of the AC or CPC designation requires that the designee comply with all certification requirements established and set forth by the Commission.
