We are an offical chapter of the American Institute of Constructors that was formed in 1971.
Our chapter began with four individuals that started meeting in late 2000 to determine if there was support for a Michigan Chapter. They began by partnering with other professional organizations and co-sponsoring their meetings.
The interest in a professional organization for the individual in the construction industry in Michigan grew fast. By October of 2001, meetings were being held in Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Detroit. In March of 2002, at the annual AIC meeting in Las Vegas we received our offical charter.
Currently we hold seven meetings a year. Two are held Grand Rapids and Detroit, and three are held in Lansing. We also partner with other organizations to provide additional educational meetings and seminars in each area. We also have multiple tours and events such as project tours and a summer golf outing.
